Frost Delays
We are experiencing frost delays at the Calvert City Country Club along with all other area courses. For those wondering why we make you wait to tee off, this is for you.
Frost is frozen dew and occurs when the temperature is near or below the freezing point. Those ice crystals that form on the outside of the grass can also harden and/or freeze the cell structure of the plant. These normally resilient plant cells become brittle. Walking on this fragile frozen grass damages it when you walk on the greens, AND when you drive in the fairways. You may even see this damage as brown footprints on a green where someone has walked across previously.
Please check with the Pro Shop or John regarding frost delays. Usually they thaw out fairly quickly and you have to be patient for only a short while. DO NOT play until someone gives you the “green light”.
The Pro Shop employees sympathize with you and really would rather have you playing golf than grumbling in the club house, but their main concern is the health of our course. Be patient with them and be patient with nature. Be good to your golf course and just maybe your golf course will be good to you?????
Membership Update
Monthly dues - No invoices sent out - please pay by the 15th of the month - at the Pro Shop or to PO Box 747, Calvert City, KY 42029. Thank you.
You will NOT receive an invoice if you normally pay monthly. Please note that we will send out notices as cart sheds and lockers come due, but IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE one, you are still responsible for contacting the Country Club and taking care of this charge.
Greens Update
Jan through March, there will be consultations with a Greens Builder on possible reconstruction of #7 and #12 greens to reduce sloping and to expand the green size.
During this same period, the determination will be made on which greens need to be enlarged. John's crew will start painting and mowing out these areas. Trees that need to be removed due to shade problems will be identified and removed as schedules permit.
Keep posted for more updates . . . . . . . .
