CLUB NEWSLETTER
Can you believe how fast the year has past? There have been a lot of activities at the club during the past year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members for their support. The tree trimming and clean up of the course has helped not only in the much need ventilation but also in the beautification. Plans are being developed to ensure this will be maintained in future years. The status of the greens are being looked at and addressed by the Greens Committee and the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure full recovery. The Greens at present are the highest priority for our club. There have been tremendous efforts during the past year (additional soil sampling, water sampling, reviews of various grass seeds, fertilizers, types of aeration, types of sand etc.).
The swimming pool this past year saw a tremendous increase in member participation thru the pool membership. The pool committee is currently looking at additional pool activities for the upcoming season in an effort to continue the increase in its use. Much overdue maintenance on the Golf Cart Sheds has been started and will continue. Considerable damage is being found that is not thru normal wear and tear. Would like to remind all cart shed occupants that the club has the responsibility to maintain the routine maintenance but damage is the responsibility of the occupant.
I would like to thank each of the board members for their support and continued commitment to the Calvert City Country Club. Each of these members has not hesitated in anyway to accepting challenges that are given to them when asked.
As president of YOUR CLUB I again remind you that we as board members continue to conduct the business of the club with the betterment of the club and its members in mind. We continue to ask for feedback from the members so that the board can attempt to do things that YOU would like to see done at OUR CLUB to continue improvements.
Looking forward to warm sunny days so we all can get back out and enjoy our club.
FROST DELAYS
Frost Delays have been implemented at Calvert City Country Club. The delays will be posted at the entrance to the #1 & #10 Cart Paths and in the Pro Shop.
This has been implements in a continued effort to better maintain the course. A lot of time, effort and money are being spent to improve the condition of the course. It’s hard to believe that simply walking across a green covered in frost can cause so much damage, but the proof will be there in a few days as the turf grass dies and leaves a trail of brown footprints. That’s why most courses will delay starting play until the frost has melted. And it’s also why golfers who appreciate a quality putting surface will be patient during frost delays.
Thanks for understanding. The damage isn’t just unsightly, putting quality will also be reduced until repairs are made. These repairs are expensive and, in some cases, the greens may have to be kept out of play for days or weeks until the new turf is established.
DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS
If your membership dues are past due, you lose all privileges at the club.
CLUB NEWS WEB PAGE @ www.proshop@calvertcitycountryclub.com
Each month the club news and events will be posted on the club web site. This will give the membership information on the golf course, swimming pool, and other events at the club. We would appreciate any e-mails for questions, or suggestions.
This is a great time of the year to visit Nancy, or Loretta in the proshop. The new rainsuits are in along with the new pro-v-one golf balls, and many new items arriving weekly.
The board of directors and the staff at the Calvert City Country Club wish all of the members happy holidays, and a great golfing, and swimming New Year.
